TAL Vox Assignment: Nice Work If You Can Get It

Comments

I don't know if this is on topic or not but I am currently working at my anti-dream job, and really loving it.

My mother worked in book publishing. She met my father while he was the managing editor of the publishing house. I was brought up to appreciate literature and books. I love to write. I graduated from college as an English major. I tried to get into publishing, and couldn't. I went back to [a University] and get an additional degree, to see if maybe that could help me get into publishing. But then I took a class on business writing, and found that I was really good at it. So on a whim, I asked my professor if I should apply for jobs at the University's Business School. He said I should, and he'd recommend me. And I got the job. Now I work with a team designing courses for visiting executives who want to further their education. My mother is horrified. How could I sell out to corporate America?

But, I have to say, I love my job.
